Carved out of the foothills of the scenic Superstition Mountains, the 36 holes of desert mountain golf offer two distinct playing options. Dinosaur Mountain, the #1 public course in Arizona for 2001-2002, takes golfers into the high Sonoran Desert. A round of golf includes breathtaking views of the Superstition Mountains and dramatic tee-to-green elevation changes. Sidewinder, Gold Canyon's newest course, runs through the land's natural arroyos and dry creek beds, providing a pristine desert golf experience. Gold Canyon is located just 35 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.

Although the surroundings were beautiful, the course itself was not as great as I expected given the other reviews. The course has many extreme elevation changes, many holes looked the same and it did not flow naturally through the mountain. The par 3s were particularly boring. Long drive from Scottsdale for a disappointing course.

Gorgeous course, third time playing it and still difficult to concentrate on the game with all the beautiful vistas, just prefer to hit off grass rather than matts on the practice range. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
